May 2006 Community Workshops

In May 2006 the Red Line Corridor Transit Study Team held a total of five public Community Workshops. The meetings provided general background information on the project, and focused specifically on station areas of the Red Line. After the general presentation, attendees were able to choose which station area was of the most interest to them, and then participate in breakout discussions on the area. Each station table contained background information about technical factors of the station, examples of other transit stations, and a plan that illustrated several station locations. The meetings provided attendees with an opportunity to make specific comments about the 25 station location areas being studied for the project. Approximately 250 persons attended the May Community Workshops.

The comments received from the public are an integral part of the station placement planning process. These comments coupled with the technical studies, agency involvement, benefits and impacts, and cost, will help determine the best station placement along the corridor.
